This stamp is interesting as close inspection shows that there is an apostrophe after the 'n' of Son. It seems unlikely that misuse of the apostrophe would have appeared as early as the late-nineteenth century. Therefore, we have made the assumption that this piece originated in the factory of Thomas Furnival and Son rather than Thomas Furnival and Sons, with the apostrophe denoting that it was their Primrose pattern.
