Grateful thanks to Margaret Roberts-Neilson for very kindly giving us permission to publish these pictures of her English Rose plate.
As can be seen on the backstamp, this plate was manufactured for Caulfield & Co., of Glasgow. Interestingly, the plate was found in a thrift shop in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.
Caulfield & Co. were Importers, Exporters and Merchants of glass and china, based at the Crystal Palace, Jamaica Street, Glasgow, Scotland. Formed around the 1850's, they were patronised by leading nobility and gentry and exported to all parts of the world. They exhibited at the Glasgow International Exhibition and sold a wide range of pottery, including Crown Derby, Royal Worcester, Coalport, Wedgwood, Minton’s, and Doulton ware ... and, of course, Furnivals!
Grateful thanks to Bodil Jacobsen for very kindly giving us permission to publish these pictures of his fathers English Rose dinner service.
