HONG KONG FURNIVALS LIMITED ENGLAND ENGRAVINGS BY J. BROADHURST
Research suggests that J. Broadhurst may have some connection to James Broadhurst & Sons Ltd, of Portland Pottery, Fenton. The original company, known as Broadhurst and Sons, was based in Longton from 1862, before moving to Fenton in 1870.. The "Broadhurst" signature on these pieces is very similar to the mark used by the factory from c.1961. Possibly the design was created and engraved by the Broadhurst factory and then purchased for use by Furnivals? Just a theory! We would love to hear from anyone who can provide any further information on "Engravings by J. Broadhurst", please!
Grateful thanks to Joanna of ebay shop, vintage-once-treasured, for very kindly giving us permission to publish these photographs of their beautiful Hong Kong tureen and vegetable dish.
