ADELPHI FURNIVALS LTD. ENGLAND RD.NO. 312522 This dates the registration of the pattern to 1898.
Type: Dinnerware Colours: Blue, Brown/multi
This version of the pattern is known as a flow blue design. This was a type of transfer pottery which was first produced in Staffordshire around the 1820's. It was mostly sold in the US market and looked very similar to traditional blue and white pottery, apart from the fact that the blue colour was deliberately blurred. This effect was created by adding volatile chlorides to the kiln during glazing.
Grateful thanks to Richard Mogenson of Colorado for kindly giving us permission to publish the following image of his soup bowl.
